Walling off Central America

Christine Wade dives into the implications of President Donald Trump's immigration-related decisions for the World Politics Review in Trump’s Restrictions on Central Americans Seeking Asylum Could Destabilize the Region.
The Central American Minors Program represented one of the last legal means for young Salvadorans, Guatemalans and Honduras living in fear to enter the United States. Limiting access to asylum will no doubt have serious repercussions for those in the Northern Triangle, as well as neighboring countries that are increasingly absorbing these populations. Not only will these misguided policies fail to make the U.S. more secure, but they increase the potential for further destabilization in Central America.
They're not only destabilizing Central America, they are destabilizing the United States. Random and punitive immigration decisions. Ending DACA. Threatening to end TPS. Restricting refugees. Dividing families.
