Five-Year-Old Boy Attacked by American Bulldog in Pittsburg Kansas

PITTSBURG, KANSAS - A boy awaits reconstructive surgery after an American bulldog attacked him in Pittsburg, Kansas.

Five year old Corbin Smith was biking to Schlanger Park with his grandmother on Wednesday when the dog grabbed him by the foot pulling him off his bike, then apparently went for his head.

The attack happened just outside The Imagination Station daycare on E. Eighth and N. Stillwell in Pittsburg.

Just across the street, Pittsburg resident Breiyana Binegar says she heard the child's piercing screams from inside her home and called 911.

"It was kind of scary. I mean I couldn't stay down there for very long because I started crying and screaming because there was a little kid screaming on the ground who was only five years old,” says Binegar.

Corbin had to be airlifted to Children's Mercy in Kansas City. He still has to go back to get multiple skin grafts to reconstruct his ear. The dog is being held at Pittsburg's Animal Control Center pending a hearing with the owner, Andrew Brown, on July 22nd.
