Man killed after vehicle is struck by train in Barton County
A Liberal man has been killed after his vehicle struck a train late Saturday morning in Barton County. According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, the accident occurred just after 11:00 A.M. late Saturday morning on Highway K, at the Western City Limits of Liberal, in Barton County involving a 1999 Park Avenue driven by 86 year old William Jones, of Liberal.
The patrol says, Jones was traveling Eastbound when he struck a 1999 GE C44-9W Burlington Northern Freightliner driven by 61 year old Emery Redmond, of Ozark. Jones was pronounced dead at the scene. He was transported to Daniel Funeral Home of Lamar.
