Obituary - Dennis “Denny” Paul Davis

Dennis “Denny” Paul Davis passed away peacefully in North Kansas City on July 27, 2015 shortly after being diagnosed with lung cancer. He was 73 years old.
Dennis was born May 30, 1942 in Kansas City, KS to parents, Charles Donald Davis and Loreana Emmerette (Knight) Davis. He went on to serve his country by joining the Marine Corps in 1959. Upon his return, Dennis went on to marry Jo Ellen Witte and in January of 1964 he became a sãloving father to Joseph and Margie Lacobee, later joined by daughter Deneen Yvette Davis and son Dennis Paul Davis II. In 1971, the family moved to Butler, MO where Dennis continued to pursue his passion to serve his country and community by becoming involved in law enforcement where he eventually retired as the Chief of Police in Butler, MO.
In 1998, Dennis married Sarah Kay Thomas and became stepfather to her children Natalie and Michael Thomas. Dennis and Sarah became advocates for children in 2007 by becoming foster parents and over the years they provided a safe and loving home to over thirty-three foster children.
Dennis was preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers Carl Dinsmore and Gary Davis, sister Norma Jean McGinnis, and Jo Ellen Davis.
He is survived by his loving wife Sarah Thomas Davis, his children, Joseph Lacobee, Margie Graham, Deneen Davis, Dennis Davis II, Natalie and Michael Thomas, Trinity Norris as well as twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and longtime friends.
Dennis chose cremation. A Celebration of Dennis’ life will be held Monday August 3, 2015 at 6 p.m. in Adrian, MO at the First Baptist Church for those who wish to celebrate the memory of a man so many loved.
