Backpacks and School Supplies Needed
The West Central Missouri Community Action Agency sponsors a back-to-school program which assists children of low-income families by providing basic school supplies to those whose families cannot afford them. All eligible families are from families in Bates County that are unable to purchase the school supplies that are required by their teachers.
For the past few years West Central has provided school supplies for approximately 200 children each year, and this year it’s no different. With the condition of the economy, those numbers are expected to increase this year. The number one item needed is backpacks. Their hope is to provide a backpack for every child that is eligible.
Other items that are needed are:
• Wide line loose leaf notebook paper
• Wide line spiral notebooks
• Dry erase markers
• Washable markers (basic colors)
• Washable fine line markers
• 1” 3-ring binders
• Graph paper
• Big pink erasers
• Pencil top erasers
• Bottles of white glue
• Scissors
• Calculators (basic and scientific)
• Protractors
• Compasses
• Clorox wipes
• Hand sanitizer
• Boxes of Kleenex
If you are unable to purchase school supplies, donations of money would be greatly appreciated.
