Good News – Over 50% of Houses Slated for Demo in Butler Have Been Torn Down
BUTLER, Mo - City Administrator Casey Koehn reported to Council Tuesday evening that out of the 31 houses slated for demolition, 16 have now been torn down. The demo was delayed a bit due to the rainy conditions of the past few weeks, but it’s now back on track.
Mary DuBray from the Butler Bear Backers Association came before Council for permission to hold a 5K Run on September 19th. Mayor Don Malan asked Lt. Wheatley, representing the Butler Police Department if this was a problem, and was assured it was not. Council approved the request for the 5k run.
Council approved Bill NO 2015-7 ORD No 1004 which will allow the City of Butler to enter into an agreement with MoDOT to accept CDBG funding for the drainage project at the Butler Airport.
Mayor Malan signed a letter in support of Bates County’s membership in the Missouri Clean Energy District which provides the statewide Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) program. PACE provides financing for energy projects by providing long term fixed rate funding for local projects.
The Airport sealcoat project was scheduled to be complete on July 17th but will need an additional 30 days to reapply stripping on the runway.
The City received a letter from the Butler School District asking permission to expand their parking lot at the Butler Grade School. They will utilize an alleyway on the west side of the school, approximately a 30 x 40 foot section and the school will provide the material for a hard service and the city will maintain the alley. Council approved the request.
Code Enforcement Officer Jim Wheatley was questioned regarding a couple of houses within city limits that needed some attention. He is going to look into the matter and report back to Council.
The subject of dumpsters that are full not being dumped was brought up, Casey will meet with Tom Adelman, Butler City Attorney and discuss what can be done with this situation.
