UPDATE: Two vehicle accident North of Merwin sends Drexel man to hospital

Around 8:00 p.m. This evening the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County responded to a two vehicle accident on 18 Highway and County Road 14002 North of Merwin.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2012 Nissan driven by 23 year old Rachel D. Gerhards of Drexel, Missouri failed to yield to the 1998 Dodge driven by 35 year old Christopher E. Close of Drexel, Missouri nearly head on.

Mr. Close received minor injuries in this accident and was transported by ambulance to Bates County Memorial Hospital.
