Costa Rica: Well that's not good
Costa Rica is seeing off 2015 as the most violent year in its history with at least 528 homicides to date, one more than the previous record established in 2010, according to figures released by the country's OIJ law enforcement agency.
OIJ data indicate that 527 homicides were recorded in 2010, but since then the country has seen a decline to 474 in 2011, 407 in 2012, 411 in 2013 and 477 in 2014.According to authorities, the elevated homicide rate has been caused by an increase in "settling of scores" among criminal groups in the country.
El Salvador, meanwhile, is on pace to finish the year with a homicide rate above 100 per 100,000 - about ten times that of Costa Rica, That doesn't include disappearances.
