From the Henry County Prosecuting Attorney

Ryan Keith
On July 20, 2015, a hearing was held in the Circuit Court of Henry County regarding the cases of State of Missouri v. Ryan Keith. Henry County Prosecuting Attorney Richard Shields was present representing the State of Missouri.

The State has now pending against Keith two cases. One case alleges that Keith possessed methamphetamine on May 18, 2014, with the intent to deliver among other lesser charges.

The charge alleges that Keith is a prior and persistent drug offender. Keith had already posted bond on that charge.

The second case is a possession of methamphetamine charge alleging conduct taking place on April 5, 2015.

Henry County Associate Circuit Court Judge Wayne Strothmann set a cash only bond of $200,000 on that case. Prosecutor Shields had requested that the Court set a high bond because several of other drug arrests of Keith during the first half of 2015. Those additional matters are pending laboratory results and it is anticipated that new charges will be filed as soon as results are received.

Preliminary hearings were held in both of these cases on June 19, 2015. Per local court rules both cases were assigned to the Hon. James K. Journey. Judge Journey recused himself and Senior Judge James R. Bickel of the 28th Judicial Circuit was assigned to the cases. Keith’s attorney filed a motion to reduce Keith’s bond and hearings were held on that motion on July 2 and again on July 20, 2015.

Prosecutor Shields argued that the $200,000 cash only bond should remain in place. Judge Bickel modified the bond to $75,000 cash or surety with house arrest and several special conditions. One of the special conditions is that he is not to leave his home except to travel to the Henry County Detention Center three times a week for a drug test. As of this news release it is not known if Keith will post the bond.

Prosecutor Shields asks the public to assist law enforcement in enforcing this provision if he posts bond. The public is urged to call 911 and the prosecutor’s office if Ryan Keith is seen anywhere except on a direct route from his residence at 384 NW 251 Road, Clinton, and the Henry County Detention Center at Main and Green Streets in Clinton.
